Lovely pub grub, lovely pub
We've been aiming to visit this pub for ages now due to its great reviews in local and regional articles and we weren't disappointed when we finally made it. The pub itself is a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside and is complete with oak beams and huge fire place. The beer is kept perfectly and the menu is extensive with both lunch time menus and restaurant type full meals available. Altogether it was a great visit plus half the price of the bell inn just down the road in saxmundham

Wonderful dinner at The Queen's Head
A group of 17 of us staying in Bramfield for the weekend, gathered at the Queen's Head last Saturday night for dinner to celebrate turning 50 this year. We had a super evening, great food, we tried everything; pork, lamb, steaks, fish. It was all delicious, especially the sticky toffee pudding to follow. The staff were fantastic, very accommodating and excellent service from young staff.

Thank you all so much for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Everything
appeared to run like clockwork - no mean logistical feat! The food,
atmosphere & service were excellent. We were all made to feel most
welcome.
See you again soon no doubt!

Super pub full of character
Visited twice within a couple of weeks, we were so impressed. Friendly staff, excellent food, great atmosphere. So nice for the vegetarian options to be top of the menu. Super well kept beer. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Delicious meal tonight
My husband and I were both really impressed by the first rate service and perfectly cooked and presented meal that we enjoyed this evening having chosen to dine at the queen's head Bramfield for our second wedding anniversary celebratory dinner. We shared a starter of marinated herrings with a salad and home made bread... the herrings were soft and sweet and quite irresistable... i had declined a starter having chosen local rack of lamb for main course... i didn't think that I would have room for both... We were presented with a very generous starter portion of some of the most delicious herrings we had ever tasted and as my husband is of Norwegian descent, where the humble herring is a national institution, this is no feint praise! My lamb to follow was wonderful, and the local veg to accompany it were just right. My husband had chosen the rabbit casserole for main course, which has a tendency to be dry, but it was so expertly cooked in a creamy garlic sauce which beautifully complemented the lean meat. We shared a bottle of delicious Picpoul white wine, which was\excellent value for such a delicious drink. The setting, too, is worth a mention... The pub/ restaurant isa beautifully preserved historic building... uniquely interesting but also cosy and homely... we will definitely be back soon!

Enjoyed a 3 course evening meal with friends on a Tuesday in September 2012. Nice pub interior with a large fireplace. The food was very good with an interesting menu - I had the sirloin steak which came from a local farm and friends had rabbit and fish. The deserts were excellent and definitely worth leaving room for them.

Honest British Food At Reasonable Prices
My wife and I were staying in a B&B in Bramfield and were recommended this restautant by the landlady. We arrived to a traditional British pub in a lovely period building. We were struck immediately by the convivial atmosphere and warm welcome by the landlord. We ordered our food and drink and were served promptly, my wife the pork in cider and me the lamb shanks. The food was truly delicious, well cooked and served in generous portions. seasoning was a bit weak, but that was our only criticism. We went back the following night and both had the Gressingham duck with orange sauce. Again, very sastifying. the restaurant was very busy the second night but the food was not delayed and the service was good, with the waitress making sure we had everything we needed. Again, a bit short on seasoning, but otherwise well worth it. All the food is sourced locally where possible and seasonal. We'll come back.
We took over the running of the Queen's Head on 17th July 2012 so the reviews below this comment, posted before our arrival, should really be attributed to the former owners.
But given that we've retained all existing staff, plan to keep favourite dishes on the menu and generally aim to build upon that earlier reputation we feel that it's not inappropriate to leave those reviews in place.

Super local pub, great local food.
Hadn't been to the Queen's Head for a few years but the claim to use fresh local produce was enticing - and lived up to its promise. A cut above average pub food, imaginative menu and yes, locally sourced ingredients where possible. I chose chicken, bacon and asparagus crumble with salad - also came with chips, yum, the flavours went together perfectly. My partner had the beef braised in red wine - also delicious. The portions aren't huge but certainly sufficient, leaving just enough room for a shared pudding. We asked for extra cream and the waitress quickly obliged, it was incredibly thick and - well, creamy, we felt we might have overdone it, but gamely managed to finish the lot.
The staff were friendly and attentive to just the right degree, the building is delightful and the ethos of sourcing locally has to be applauded. We'll definitely return.

Good pub food.
Very friendly pub, offering a varied and interesting menu. We (family of 3) ate here on a Sunday lunchtime, and had a good meal. Note that all food seems freshly cooked, so it's not fast food, but all the better for that. No roast dinners available, presumably due to not being overly busy, but the main menu was fine.

Dependably good. We have eaten here on a number of occasions in the past 3 years and our experience has always been very good. Various friends and family members who have come with us have been uniformly pleased with their experience. The pub has a great atmosphere with its high ceiling and massive fireplace. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Service can be a bit slow but when the food arrives it has been worth the wait. There are always some interesting veggie options too. Not a pace for a cheap feed but excellent for a leisurely evening out. If you haven't been to Bramfield before, pop behind the pub to visit the interesting church which has a round tower (not that unusual in this part of the country) but this one is separate from the church. Opposite the church is a crinkle crankle wall.

Good atmosphere. Had been recommended to try this pub on our short visit in the area and we were not disappointed. We knew we'd enjoy the evening as soon as we entered to find a roaring log fire in the enormous inglenook and a friendly buzzy atmosphere. The food was very good and we bought some homemade marmalade to take home with us. Have since tried this and we can recommend that too! This place is well worth searching out. It's actually in Bramfield not far from Halesworth. Hope you enjoy.

Good quality locally sourced grub! This small but ver pleasant pub has some unusually pleasant dishes which are virtually all locally soucred and often organic.
A wonderful service usually can be found and good honest food to be eaten.
TIP: Ask to sit in the main bar room with the fire for a really great atmosphere.

What a refreshing change. Great vegetarian choices that don't involve a butternut squash or risotto!! Meat eaters too will not be disappointed. The local grown veg locally reared meat, were not let down by the excellently cooked and well presented food. Not only that you can buy local produce (including the eggs from the very happy chickens clucking away in the garden). A place I would happily pay full price for.

Good Pub Food. The Queen's Head seems always to be busy and it's wise to book ahead if you want to dine here. Used by both locals and visitors it's the only pub or restaurant in Brafield village. Imaginiative menu of mainly local produce, a reasonable wine list and home made cakes and jams on sale in the pub too. Friendly service run by husband and wife team. The prices are a bit high for a village pub - mains are a pound or two above where they should be and the drinks charges match those of a busy city centre establishment. If you are in the area, do eat at least one meal here.

Great Pub Grub. We selected The Queens Head for lunch because although our previous visit was several years ago in winter and apart from being very chilly, was not particularly memorable, we were in the area so tried it again. The menu offers a very good selection, I chose the Steak & Kidney pie which was superb and my wife had the Weybridge Chicken, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Our dishes were very well presented and portions were .generous. We did not have a dessert but those served on nearby tables looked great. On the down side the pub is very dark inside making it difficult to see the specials boards or to read the menus. Service was a bit slow and it would have been nice if the staff had informed us that food orders had to be made at the bar.

A lovely Olde Worlde Pub, Fairly dark inside but we think that it gives the pub a lot of atmosphere, Food has to ordered at the bar and when we visited although it was very busy, the wait was very much worth it. We have tried lots of other food outlets in this part of Suffolk and for content and value for money the 'Queens Head' takes the first prize as far as we are concerned.

Nice old pub, easy to park, friendly staff, great Adnams beer, good menu (the duck was superb) and great tastecard value. Thank you for a very pleasant evening.

Excellent Pub Food. We had an excellent meal in a warm friendly atmosphere.
this was our third visit to the Queen's Head and the food is always very good. The Queen's Head accept the "Taste Card" so we got a substantial discount on our meals.

My wife and I visited the Queens Head following recommendations in the guest book of the B&B we were staying. My wife is a vegetarian so was pleasantly surprised by the enormous choice on offer, 5 different main courses. She choose a stilton peppered pie with organic potatoes which she said was delicious and I went for a seafood stew which again was fantastic. A wonderful selection of home-made desserts, organic coffee and even cakes and jams to take home. Friendly service and a well mannered group of locals at the bar. Highly recommended.

I visited The Queens Head in Bramfield for Sunday lunch with my husband, mother-in-law (in her 70's)and my daughter who is 8.
The pub is very pretty and is situated in a beautiful village which we took a stroll around afterwards.
The pub is very cosy with lots of character and very friendly staff. It is well known for working really hard to use locally sourced produce and this is the reason that we chose to go there.
The menu is quite small which I like, giving an indication that nothing has been hanging around for ages. We all opted for the roast which on that day was lamb from just down the road.
We were a little disappointed with the small amount of vegetables - it seemed more suitable for two rather than three adults - but everything was really tasty and perfectly cooked.
We all chose a different dessert as they all sounded so gorgeous we wanted to try them all - we were not disappointed, they were all amazing.
Now having eaten our yummy puddings we were pleased that our dinner was not a mountain of food because we would not have been able to manage dessert!
They also sell a range of homemade cakes, jams and chutneys (my mother-in-law got a large bakewell tart to take home with her) and the lady across the road came in whilst we were there to sell eggs from her chickens to the landlady.
All-in-all I am not sure that I have ever enjoyed a meal so much! I am planning to go back with my husband for our wedding anniversary.
We were on our own when we arrived and by the time we left the place was full of couples and families and I liked that well behaved dogs were allowed inside.

An excellent Sunday lunchtime ambience. We were able to get a table without difficulty which was quite surprising as a lot of tables were reserved and it has an attractive menu with very good food. They make a feature of using local suppliers, organic meat etc and everything certainly tasted very wholesome. We went for the set 2 or 3 course lunch but there was also an a la carte menu and a good wine list, not too expensive. we were not deterred by a notice outside proclaiming "lovely horse poo 50p a bag" but nor did we sample it. Another plus was the absence of music, just the buzz of cheerful conversation.
Highly recommended.
Good food and friendly service.
